Hanuman was the son of Anjana and Keshri, a vanara couple. His mother was an Apsara who was born in Vanara family. Hanuman took birth as an embodiment of Lord Shiva who is also known as Rudra.
There is a story behind the birth of Hanuman. Anjana and Keshri worshipped Lord Shiva at the same time Dhasratha was also performing yagna for having children. After the completion of Yagna he got a holy payasam to be shared by his wives, as a result of which Rama, Lakshmana, Bharat and Shatraghna were born. By godly process a Kite snatched a layer of that payasam and dropped it over the forest were Anjana was worshipping, Vayu- the god of Wind carried it to the stretched hands of Anjana, who ate it. As a result Hanuman was born.
In his childhood days, Hanuman was very naughty and mischievous. Believing that the sun is ripe mango, he went to eat it.During this process Hanuman clashed with Rahu who at that was seeking out the Sun as well. Hanuman defeated Rahu. When Rahu went to Indra and narrated the story, Indra became angry and did VAJRA PRAHAR (weapon of Indra) on Hanuman, as a result fell on the ground and fainted. Vayu was very upset with this incident and secluded himself with the atmosphere. As a result living being began to suffocate. Finally, Indra withdrew his effect of VAJRA, blessed Hanuman with boons. Hanuman was also blessed by multiple gods like Shiva, Brahma, Surya, Agni, Vayu, Yama, Kubera, and Vishwakarma.
Hanuman met Rama and his brother Lakshmana when they searching for Sita. Hanuman played a lead role in searching for Sita and helped Rama in winning a tough war against Ravana.
